O'Neil She was in her high-school times at the time of the auditions, auditioned for Canadian Idol's 3rd season in the beginning of 2005. The singer made it through to the top 100 rounds when judges applauded her voice. O'Neil was given high praise by the judges. However, she experienced major losses during the Top 10 weeks as well as the Top 9 of the Finals in which she was relegated into the bottom 3 and bottom 2 respectively. The judges were shocked at this, and advised the audience to select contestants such as Melissa with most impressive singing talent. After giving consistently stellar performances throughout the contest, O'Neil never again finished within the top three. The performance she gave on the 7th September of 2005 was awe-inspiring that judge Werner predicted the news headlines. O'Neil beat Rex Goudie and became the third Canadian Idol. O'Neil was contacted by Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin congratulating her on the success of Canadian Idol right away.
